Top 5 New Years Resolutions
There’s nothing too original about these resolutions. In fact, you can basically apply these to your life every year. If you can accomplish one, you would be
1. The Health Kick – After several years in hiatus, the health kick – the Granddaddy of all resolutions - is back en vogue. Enough with the low-carbs, stick with the only tried and true cure for lard-ass - regular exercise and a well-balanced diet.
2. Make More Time to Study – It’s finally time to give up on the crap that fills the nightly TV schedule. Stick with a few quality shows, and let the rest of America waste their time with Dancing with Celebrities and Trading Wives. Spend that extra hour prepping for your Boards while the pressure is at a minimum and time and time is at a maximum.
3. Spend Less Money – While this seems difficult, there are many ways to spend less money while maintaining the same lifestyle. Probably the most efficient and rewarding way is to start cooking (a resolution in itself). There are thousands of tasty meals that can be made in less than 30 minutes – Rachel Ray had made a career out of it. Just tipping the delivery guy 15 times a month can come to $30-40, enough for 8-10 solid homemade meals. This will save you not hundreds, but thousands over the course of a year. If that doesn’t work, get rid of your land line and go all-cellular, baby. Amazon Cooking
4. Get More Sleep – Work hard, play hard? It’s a fine motto for your teens and early twenties, but as you approach your thirties the hangover chic look goes from sorta cool to sorta lame. If the TV is keeping you at night, flick it off and pick up one of your Board review books, nothing puts you to sleep faster. If it’s kinky all-night sex that has you bleary-eyed in the morning …keep it up, we’re jealous.
5. Learn to Play an Instrument – Ah, forget it. If you haven’t learned to play an instrument by know, chances are you never will. Save yourself the disappointment and the $100 that you would have paid for 2 guitar lessons.
